January Project: Sudoku !!

If you've ever tried a Sudoku puzzle, you know they can be real head-scratchers! Here's a way to make it a little more fun...

The project for January is: SUDOKU QUILT (Non-quilters skip to the "Not a quilter" section!!)

This is a fun project that makes something useful and pretty and is a good way to use up some smaller pieces of fabric.
Here are the basics:

1) Choose 9 fabrics that you like together. Assign each one a number 1-9. You will need 9 5-inch squares from each fabric.

2) Solve a Sudoku puzzle! You can find tons of free ones online.

3) Place each fabric according to it's assigned number in the solved puzzle, creating 9-patch quilt blocks.

4) Piece together with strips between the blocks, like the lines in the puzzle.

OK, as I said that's just the basic idea...there are tons of pictures and tutorials and free patterns on Google. Just search "Sudoku Quilt"

IF YOU'RE NOT A QUILTER,  NO PROBLEM!!
There are lots of  other ways to complete this project:

If you sew...Make smaller squares and sew up a Sudoku placemat,  pillow or doll blanket....use your imagination!

If you play with paper... choose nine papers to complement a room in your home and make your Sudoku into framed wall art!

If you play with yarn... choose 9 yarns and crochet granny squares...they're quick and portable!

If you take photos...choose 9 subjects and create a Sudoku photo collage!

If you play with food... create a Sudoku snack tray!

Don't stop there...make a Sudoku t-shirt, paint a box, make a Sudoku flower centerpiece, ...the options are endless! As long as your finished product is recognizable as Sudoku-inspired, you're good!

I hope you will all join me in this little venture and have fun with it!
